Course number
11.1
Instructor/teacher
Description

Course in 3 modules

Module 1: Preliminary Practise

This five-days Mahamudra-Retreat with Archrya Lama Sönam Rabgye offers new interested people a wonderful opportunity, under the guidance of a well trained Lama, to come in contact with the buddhist teachings and to get an access to the meditation-practise. For those who practise already for longer time, it is a good possibility to repeat knowledge that was already learnt and to get a deeper understanding of mind and meditation.

The instructions and explanations are based on the text of the 9th Karmapa Wangchuk Dorje “The Mahamudra – Eliminating the darkness of ignorance”. This is a short text for good use, which reveals the whole buddhist meditation path of the Mahamudra tradition – starting with the preliminary practise, then the meditation of calm abiding (Shamatha), until the meditation of insight (Vipashyana). By the 3 modules the whole text will be step by step explained and transmitted.

In the first module the focus is on the preliminary practise: the four thoughts which turn the mind to the dharma (impermanence, cause and effect of actions, disadvantages of Samsara, precious human birth) will be explained and how to contemplate on them. The meditation of the four preliminary practises (Refuge/Bodhicitta, Vajrasattva Meditation, Mandala Offering, Guru-Yoga) are presented and how to practise them. Beside these instructions there will be also general explanations given on how to meditate, and how to use this understanding in daily life.

During the course there will be also enough time for contemplation and meditation. Furthermore Lama Sönam will also offer tibetan yoga (tib.: lüjong) and individual interviews.

In module 2, Shamatha, the meditation of calm abiding, will be elaborately explained and trained.

In module 3, Vipashyana, the meditation of insight, will be shown, until the pointing out of the own nature of mind of enlightenment.

The dates for these courses will be announced in time.
