Course number

Description

„Kagyu Monlam is to spread the seeds of loving kindness and pure motivation, to activate their power, and hence bring about genuine peace, love, happiness and well-being in the world.“
— 17th Gyalwang Karmapa

This weekend, together with Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, we want to express our deep wish for peace and harmony in the world. These prayer festivals take place in more and more countries all over the world, as was the heartfelt wish of H.H. the 17th Karmapa Orgyen Trinley Dorje, who took over the responsibility for the traditional Karma Kagyu Monlam in Bodhgaya in 2004.

This year, the focus is on the “King of Aspirations to Good Actions” by the noble Samantabhadra. This Gaôçavyüha chapter of the Avatamsaka Sutra expresses the heartfelt wish of a Bodhisattva – That all sentinet beings may accomplish complete enlightenment. It is followed by additional prayers that the necessary conditions for the accomplishment will be present. All Bodhisattvas pray in this way, in order to fullfil their Bodhisattva vows.

The “King of Aspiration Prayers” is known as the foremost of all prayers. It combines all supreme activities of the Bodhisattvas and is an exceptionally profound means to purfiy negativity, accumulate merit, and to accomplish our highest aspirations.

By reciting this prayer, we call upon Samanabhadra to grant us his blessings, so that we can become one with his wisdom and compassion. In this way, we open ourselves to boundless possibilities of growth and transformation.
