5-Day Retreat Ngöndro
(Preparatory Exercises)Refuge and Bodhichitta – Vajrasattva Meditation – Mandala Offering
– Practice of GuruyogaThe Mahamudra practice of Vajrayana Buddhism begins with the so-called Preparatory Exercises (Tibetan: ngöndro). Although these meditation methods are at the beginning of the practice path, they are by no means purely beginners exercises, as they already encompass all the essential aspects of Vajrayana meditation:
Taking refuge and bodhichitta (developing the Mahayana state of mind).
Purification from mental obscurations
Accumulation of merit to further clarify the mind
The creation and completion phases of deity meditation (which in turn correspond to the basic meditative methods of shamatha and vipashyana)
Guruyoga, which is considered the Vajrayana practice par excellence. This ngöndro practice retreat is for all those who are looking for first encounters with the preliminary practices and would like to receive instruction and initial meditation practice. But also to practitioners who are already familiar with ngöndro and are looking for encouragement, mutual exchange, joint practice, personal support and qualified instructions.
The four parts of the special ngöndro – refuge and bodhichitta, Vajrasattva meditation, mandala offering and the practice of guru yoga – will be considered according to the needs, interests and previous experience of the participants.
