Achieving financial freedom for the future activities of the Karmapa in Germany & Restoration of the Peace Stupa
Dear Sangha, Friends and Supporters of Kamalshila Institute,
we were very fortunate in 2014 and 2015 to have been able to host His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje in Germany. In 2016 he visited Switzerland and France for the first time and also paid a short and unofficial visit to us in Germany. His Holiness mentioned that he would like to come back to Germany and visit other European countries in the next years as well, if it is possible for him. Of course such an announcement is something that makes us extremely happy!
It is our goal to support and prepare the way for the activities of the 17th Karmapa to the best of our abilities. To attain this goal, we requested your support for two projects in November of the past year: achieving financial freedom for the future activities of the Karmapa in Germany and the restoration of the Peace Stupa. We are very happy to report that the donation goal for both projects has been successfully achieved!
Thanks to your many donations and the support of a few major sponsors we made it possible to collect the money for both projects. This is a great success for which we would like to express our gratitude to all donors.

Achieving financial freedom for the future activities of the Karmapa in Germany – donation goal achieved!
The purchasing and renovating of the Eifelkloster Langenfeld for Kamalashila Institute – and the expansion of it a few years later as the main seat of the Karmapa in Europe – required the taking out of large loans despite support from numerous donors. These alone gave rise to a monthly payment obligation for Kamalashila Institute of € 5.075,00.
His Holiness the Karmapa has now visited Kamalashila Institute three times and will come again in the future. It is the goal of the Karma Kagyü Gemeinschaft Deutschland e.V. and of Kamalashila Institute to reclaim the financial freedom needed to fund the future activities of the Karmapa in Germany. Accomplishing this entails the premature paying off of loans, which was not possible without your support and the support of our sangha, our friends, and our sponsors.
We are extremely happy and grateful about the success of our fundraising campaign. A number of generous donations have made it possible for us to pay off three building loans by now. This reduces the monthly payment obligations until August by around € 2.100. Which means the monthly payment obligation of Kamalashila Institute will be reduced by September to € 2.500 a month. We are very grateful for the many generous donations with which we achieved the required amount. The fundraising collection is completed!

Preserving what already exists – Restoration of the Peace Stupa – donation goal achieved!
The stupa at Kamalashila Institute is an embodiment of the knowledge and wisdom of the Buddha. It stands for freedom and well-being in the world. In a very moving ceremony in 2014, the stupa was consecrated an additional time by H.H. the 17th Karmapa himself. The stupa is meant to radiate peace and harmony throughout Germany and the whole world and to transform negative energy into positive energy. One of the special treasures housed in the peace stupa is a statue of the Medicine Buddha – a gift from H.H. the Karmapa.
Since all compounded things eventually fall apart, our combined efforts were needed to create the conditions necessary for ensuring that the outer form of the stupa, which protects the precious relics within, remains intact. The rough weather conditions in the Eifel region have caused clearly visible damage to the stupa.
The costs of a professional restoration, which will protect the stupa for a long period of time, are around € 40.000. We are very grateful for the many generous donations with which we achieved the required amount. The fundraising collection is completed!
