Meditation for Beginners – Shamatha & Vipashyana

Course number
2.2
Instructor/teacher
Description

On this weekend, the long-time resident lama of Kamalashila Institute, Lama Kelzang, is especially looking forward to participants who would like to make their first meditation experiences. Participants with previous experience are of course also welcome.

A suitable posture for meditation will be practised, which can be assumed on a cushion, bench, stool or chair. Natural breathing is also described, the basis for mindfulness in any form of meditation. Once we are familiar with posture and breathing and can thus already conduct a first meditation session, Lama Kelzang will explain different meditation methods and their application.

Through his personal experience, Lama Kelzang will teach participants how meditators, whether beginners or those used to practising, can best deal with their own mind in the meditation session. Some surprising guidance may come into play, as meditation does not have to be boring or even quiet and empty of thought. Rather, the luminosity of the intelligence and warmth of heart inherent in us can unfold.
